Neem Karoli Baba (known to his followers as Maharajji) was a revered Hindu saint who promoted devotional yoga and encouraged service to others. He became well-known to Western visitors who visited India during the 1960s and 70s, including Ram Dass.

He advised his followers not to show off or take advantage of him and lived fully in the present moment – believing that its power exceeded that of any past or future knowledge combined. Apple’s Founder Steve Jobs Visited Maharaj Ji’s Ashram in Kainchi
Steve Jobs visited India after experiencing several professional failures and spent several months at Neeb Karori Baba’s ashram in Kainchi. Popularly known as Maharaj Ji, Baba was a Himalayan hermit renowned for his devotion and love towards all people, particularly Lord Hanuman (he had numerous temples dedicated to Hanuman within his ashram), teachings centered around three principles – love all, feed all, serve all.

Neem Karoli Baba was born Lakshman Narayan Sharma in 1900 at Akbarpur village, Firozabad district, Uttar Pradesh. At 11 he married but soon abandoned this life to become a wandering sadhu before founding Kainchi Dham ashram in Nainital Kumaon in 1964.
