This Morning
Phillip Schofield may have committed the ultimate career suicide when he admitted having an affair with one of the young male runners on This Morning. After making this admission, the 61-year-old TV star abruptly resigned from all ITV shows and his talent agency due to this scandal; and has denied grooming the boy (then 15) by engaging in intimate relations until after joining This Morning.
Lawyers representing Schofield asserted the two first met when he attended theatre school when he was 15 and secured work experience with This Morning years later. Lawyers representing Schofield claimed they did not begin dating sexually until he turned 18; and first saw each other face-to-face when he started working on the show.
ITV has been accused of covering up allegations that Schofield and his then-partner had an affair. Although ITV conducted an investigation in 2020, both Schofield and his former flame categorically denied that any relationship existed.
Eamonn Holmes and Dr Ranj Singh have recently raised concerns over an overtly toxic atmosphere on the This Morning set, leading Holly Willoughby to feel betrayed by her co-host Phil. To protect their jobs, ITV has had no choice but to restructure the show with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary filling Phil’s spot, while Willoughby takes time off presenting. Dancing on Ice
Dancing on Ice, produced by ITV, is a British television dance competition franchise showcasing celebrities learning figure skating alongside professional partners under the watchful eyes of judges. First broadcast in 2006 and now airing worldwide – Dancing on Ice has seen adaptations for over 15 countries around the globe!
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby co-host this show and are close in real life, which made Phillip cry when Holly recorded an emotional tribute for him ahead of Christmas.
Schofield has revealed in response to his affair with a younger colleague that he feels “utterly broken and ashamed”, having been dropped by both his talent agency and ITV. Schofield claims he met this individual for the first time at 15-year old drama school event and began communicating via Twitter afterwards.
Dancing on Ice’s 15th series began on Sunday, January 15, with several celebrities taking to the ice to spins, jumps and those dreaded headbangers. Patsy Palmer and Matt Evers were unfortunately eliminated during week five; opting for a routine called Spice Up Your Life in honour of the Spice Girls that failed to impress judges and finished at the bottom of leaderboard leaderboard.
Holly Willoughby
Phillip Schofield has become a media darling since his admission of an “unwise yet not illegal affair with a younger colleague, sending shockwaves through TV land. Following this revelation, he resigned from ITV (though still presents Dancing on Ice) and his management company of 35 years dropped him.
Holly has become one of the biggest daytime stars since taking over from Fern Britton as host on This Morning in 2009. They quickly formed a close bond, helping ratings soar thanks to their on-screen chemistry – leading to other ITV shows like Ministry of Mayhem, Celebrity Wrestling: Bring It On, and Greased Lightnin’ together.
However, all was not well in 2010. When filming at Queen Elizabeth II’s lying-in-state funeral, they came under criticism for refusing to join public queues when filming for public channels such as Channel 4. This contrasted sharply with celebrities like David Beckham who did queue alongside members of the public for filming opportunities.
Schofield began transitioning towards adult-oriented programming during the early 1990s with shows such as Talking Telephone Numbers and Schofield’s Quest for adults. He also hosted two series of Have I Been Here Before?, an experimental show using life regression technology to connect viewers to previous lives. Schofield went on to host Family Fortunes UK as well as The British Soap Awards between 2006-2023.
Children
Phillip Schofield shares two daughters with his wife Steph. It is reported that Steph was devastated to learn of Phillip’s affair while at work (she works as talent manager at YMU) and found out through media reports; it left her shaken to hear of it there too. Steph has since taken a half-term break from hosting This Morning to address her feelings.
Phillip is still presenter for ITV shows such as Dancing on Ice and Chase quiz show; previously he hosted events like British Soap Awards as well as appearing in his own drama film called Schofield.
