Phillip Schofield was suspended from ITV’s This Morning on May 20, after admitting lying about an affair he was having with an underage colleague. This left Holly “hurt”, according to reports.
Since co-presenting Dancing on Ice together in 2006, these two have formed an unbreakable bond and been an unofficial “daytime TV golden couple,” often traveling together on vacations with their families.

What is the Schofield Affair?
After months (technically years) of tabloid speculation, Phillip Schofield finally admitted that he was having an affair with one of his younger colleagues on ITV’s This Morning daytime program. Following this revelation, the 61-year-old then left both the show and talent agency YMU Management; additionally, he disclosed he had been lying about their relationship to co-host Holly Willoughby.
Phil and Holly had been close on the show for 13 years, yet it appears their friendship has significantly weakened since Schofield’s affair was revealed. According to reports, Holly and Phil barely speak off camera anymore and there’s an awkward silence between them both.
Schofield described his relationship with an anonymous male runner as being “unwise but not illegal”, recalling how they first met when he gave a talk at their theatre school and kept in contact through social media platforms such as WhatsApp. Later, he assisted them both with work experience at This Morning before offering them an internship role at the show.
He has also apologized for being unfaithful to his former wife whom he married in 1993 but separated from in 2020 after coming out as gay. Both have promised to reflect and learn from this incident, taking time off from the show while Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary take their place while taking time for reflection and growth.

Holly and Phil of This Morning have become one of the most beloved daytime hosts in UK television, garnering over one million viewers per episode since 2009 when they replaced Fern Britton as co-hosts and have won 12 National Television Awards together as presenters of Dancing on Ice as co-hosts.

Phillip and Stephanie first met while working for the BBC; with Phillip presenting children’s television and Stephanie as production assistant. Phil Schofield announced after admitting his affair with a younger colleague that he would leave This Morning immediately and step aside as presenter of this year’s British Soap Awards, also notifying YMU Talent Agency of this decision and terminating their agreement with him.
Stephanie typically prefers to keep details of her personal life out of the spotlight, yet she issued a statement supporting her husband’s decision to come out as gay.
