Additionally, he hosted One in a Million and co-wrote its book which chronicles amazing coincidences. Beginning 2005 he hosted daytime show Have I Been Here Before? in which celebrities used regression techniques to discover previous lives.

Schofield and Willoughby came under fire in 2022 for not joining members of the public in queueing up while filming for This Morning at Queen Elizabeth II’s lying-in state at Westminster Hall, an incident known as Queue-Gate; even though they had formal press access. Schofield denied being involved with any incidents.

Schofield announced his resignation from This Morning after revelations of an affair with a younger male staff member surfaced. ITV issued a statement that claimed Schofield had engaged in sexual relations with such employee as well as masturbated together; ITV provided further statements detailing these allegations as they emerged.

Schofield previously filled in for Holly Willoughby on This Morning during her maternity leave, yet the pair later seemed to split due to reports that Holly Willoughby was angry over ‘Queue-gate’ when the couple were seen bypassing miles-long queues to see Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin at Westminster Abbey.

Awards

Protests were heard at the British Soap Awards when host Phillip Schofield was announced to have been replaced. At 61, Schofield made headlines for admitting an “unwise but not illegal affair with a This Morning runner and lying about it to his wife, colleagues, agents and himself; his agency dropped him and forced him to issue an apology letter to fans, staff and media outlets.

Jane McDonald will take over hosting duties of this year’s TV Soap Awards, celebrating some of Britain’s most beloved soap operas such as Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks among others. Alongside McDonald, actresses from popular daytime shows as well as actors and producers will join her at this year’s ceremony.

Images from the National Television Awards of 2018 have been made public again, showing Schofield on stage with his lover. He could be seen looking over at her as she ran alongside him while accepting his award alongside This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby – making this perhaps one of his first times ever inviting such an individual onto a stage to accept an accolade which usually go to more senior figures.

Schofield appeared to be met with some disapproval by the audience during his acceptance speech and seemed disgruntled when his hands began shaking during a part of it. One fan tweeted “I think I hear some booing for Phil and Holly as they receive their awards #NTA”.
