World Oral Health Day is celebrated annually on March 20 and kicks off a year-long campaign to raise global awareness of oral health issues and the importance of oral hygiene so that governments, health associations and the public can work together for healthier teeth and happier lives.

Of the entire world population, 90% will develop oral diseases in their lifetime, many of which are preventable. Organized by the World Dental Federation FDI, World Oral Health Day includes the campaigns of national dental associations around the world with activities in over 130 countries, not excluding the American Dental Association, the Nigerian Dental Association ( NDA) and the National Association of Dental Students (NADS) of Nigeria.

World Oral Health Day was launched by the FDI World Dental Federation on March 20, 2013. The day also marks the start of a year-long campaign to raise awareness about oral health and prevention oral diseases. Since 2013, this campaign has taken on a specific theme.
